#NoExcuses – It’s Been Far Too Long

Like the hashtag says, no excuses.

I’ve been away from the blog for almost 4 months now, and it’s not because I’ve lost the passion for writing or anything traumatic. I think the easiest way to put it is that life has caught up to me. Work has been piling up (my real job), bills need to be paid, personal lives need to be attended to, and well, there are just so many other things that have delayed me. These aren’t excuses because I know each and every one of you have the same things you need to deal with.

What this is, instead, is a promise. I will get back to writing and I will finish what I started.

Lady Minute has gone through 3 read throughs and I’ve gathered the various feedback from the readers. I’m going to go back and rewrite some of the book to give it more of a voice. Lady Second was finished and sent off to a few readers as well – we shall see what they say.

I know I say it a lot, but exciting things are happening soon and I will get right back at it.

Lady Minute – Reading Session

Well my reader has almost finished the book and she has enjoyed it thus far. Every question she has had along the way, I’ve added to a list of to-dos. I think there’s a lot more work to do to get this novel to the level I’d like it to be at.

In the meantime, if anyone has any suggestions on how to get published, or if you’re interested in reading, let me know!

I’m going to start looking for publishing companies or agencies soon – so I will keep everyone posted.

Thanks for all the support so far!

Lady Minute – Final Edits Complete, Draft Sent

I have a friend who loves reading. She spends her time reading during her commute to work, so I figured it would be the perfect opportunity for her to read through my novel. She told me she may be a little biased because it was written through my eyes and she can hear my voice when she read the first chapter. That being said, any feedback from her would be very much appreciated.

I do plan on releasing Lady Minute some way, some how, maybe through independent channels, online, or something else. But in the mean time, hold on tight because once she’s done reading through Lady Minute, I will released Lady Second and hopefully I can finish Lady Lasting by the end of April.

Lady Minute – Last Steps for First Edits

After sitting at my computer for nearly three weeks non-stop (and staying up way, way, way late into the night and early morning on work days nonetheless), I am close to finishing the first cut of edits.

I will be sending the novel out to a few people to read… namely those who love reading and/or those who read on their daily commutes. I hope they will give me their honest feedback and we will see where we go from there.

Exciting times are coming! Next up – Lady Second!

Update on Project: 5 Weddings

Inspiration really does come out of nowhere. That’s probably why I don’t sleep a lot because you just never know when an idea will hit you.

I started writing 5 weddings with the intention of the story to follow a man as he journeys through 5 major weddings that have occurred in his life. Now that I think about it a little more, I’m going back to re-write and re-work my original two pieces: Lady Minute and Lady Second. 5 Weddings will be reworked into the finale of the “Lady” series. I still need to come up with a good name for this though.

Lady ______

Coming soon

Synopsis: 5 Weddings

So I want to shed a little more light on the long-term project that I’m working on. I originally wrote a story called “One Week” before taking that story in another direction. I’ve decided to rename this story, 5 Weddings. And as you have probably guessed – the story is about five different weddings.

The prologue starts with a man watching a woman walk down the aisle. She is his ex, but must have stayed close enough that he warranted an invite to her wedding day. He learns one of the most valuable lessons from watching his ex marry another man.

The story will then lead to another wedding during the introduction, presumably the fifth. The main character is fumbling around trying to find his seat. He’s a nervous wreck and begins to reflect on how he arrived at this point.

So there are two of the five weddings already revealed. The story then follows three more weddings that build up to the fifth wedding mentioned in the introduction.

It will be a love story (going back to my roots here).

What’s next?
After I lay down some more of the foundation I have a couple other projects that I want to work on.
A friend of mine, Pritpaul, is a part-time writer and is looking for a new project to tackle. Together we are going to work on a post-apocalyptic-esque story. A total 180 of what I’ve been doing here, but I hope you will all enjoy it.
On the picture book front? Well I’ll be putting together book #3 during the “off” times when I’m not focused on my novel or other projects.

Happy 2014 everyone! I think this will be an exciting year.

After the Holidays – Next Project

I had once put together a collection of short stories that I titled “Lady Minute” which basically chronicles semi-non-fiction stories about my life and the journey through my precarious teenage years and early 20s.

I went back to the drawing board over the holidays and started a new novel project. A friend of mine suggested I write something upbeat and romantic, so I’ll give it my best shot. I’ll post a little more on the project soon, but I’ve titled it as “One Week.”

Staying Motivated

Sometimes it’s hard to stay motivated… especially when it feels like you’re just treading water. I’m not getting far in my quest to find world-wide distribution (aka: taking over the world via children’s literature) and that becomes a mental battle. I want to continue with my children’s books – I feel that I have a great third book lined up, but at the same time, there’s so many obstacles that I still need to overcome.

So what’s next?

Well, the editors feel that I need to change “The Sunflower” into a love story, and well, I agree, it would make more sense, but it wouldn’t be the same story that I was trying to get across.

The editors also want me to change the pictures in “My Blanket” but honestly, I don’t have the drawing ability to change, and I kind of feel the childish drawings add to it.

I guess I have a few choices, keep going until something sticks, or please the powers that be.

I’m going to choose to keep going. I started this. I’m going to end it the way I want it to end.
