Andy Chiang is a former “lot of things.” You name it, he’s probably tried it or will try it. That being said, he has always had a passion for being creative. He finished his undergraduate degree with a major in English. He wrote countless manuscripts and unpublished novels during his younger years. Why? Because he wanted to. Now, he’s found a way to combine his creativity with his undying child-like wonder to create a series of children’s books that can also relate to adults (like himself). That isn’t to say, he won’t venture out into something more substantial in the future, but for now, he’s content with simple writing.
Andy Chiang is also a self-professed expert at Microsoft Paint. Though none of his work is YouTube worthy, he does use Microsoft Paint whenever he illustrates a book on his own. So if you’ve ever wondered why the books look like they were drawn in some basic program, well, that’s because they were.
“I don’t really know what prompted me to start writing. it could have been the jet lag – putting the current time at 4:46 AM – or that I just didn’t want to miss a thing. Whatever it is, I have never been more inspired in my life.” – July 27, 2013
